Due to the deeds of humans and variability of nature, the planet’s average surface temperature has risen drastically — about 0.9 °C (1.62 °F)— since the late 19^th century. Majority of the global warming occurred in the past 35 years, of which the five warmest years have been recorded since 2010. The warmest year on record was 2016, and eight months, starting from January to September, with the exception of June, were recorded with the highest temperatures in that year.
